I had been to Pompei before, but this time was different. It makes you think of your place in the world in relation to time and the millions of people who have come before you. Although the volcano wiped out civilization in AD 79, the citizens of Pompei were very modern; the grounds are enormous and they had systems of shops, take away food, and even the oldest business in the universe, yes, prostitution. I must admit, I was a bit ready to get out of there at the end of our tour because Mount Vesuvius could erupt any day now... but still well worth a visit!
