Humpday Playlist: Product of the 90s

This week's playlist is devoted to solely songs of the 90s that my girlfriends and I used to force our poor parents to listening to on repeat, back in the days of Walkman's & even older…cassettes. The best part of compiling this playlist was clearly looking up all of the atrocious music videos that I remember so vividly.

MMMbop – Hanson

Everybody(Backstreet's Back)– Backstreet Boys

Oops I Did It Again! – Britney Spears

Genie In a Bottle – Christina Aguilera

As Long As You Love Me – Backstreet Boys

(You Drive Me) Crazy – Britney Spears

Candy – Mandy Moore

Crazy For This Girl – Evan & Jaron

How Do I Feel (The Burrito Song) – Hoku

Aaron's Party (Come & Get It) – Aaron Carter

Tearin' Up My Heart – 'N Sync

Say My Name – Destiny's Child

Larger Than Life – Backstreet Boys

Wannabe – Spice Girls

It's Gonna Be Me – 'N Sync

Give Me Just One Night(Una Noche) – 98º

I Want You Back – 'N Sync

Say You'll Be There – Spice Girls

Waiting For Tonight – Jennifer Lopez

…Baby One More Time – Britney Spears

I think I Want You Back & Everybody are a close tie for worst video on here, what do you think!? (It's Gonna Be Me, Say My Name & Oops I Did It Again! came out in 2000, but I couldn't help but put them on this list). If I was a bit older and in my prime during the 90s, this playlist would look drastically different. Oasis and Nirvana would replace Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync. Radiohead, The Foo Fighters, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morissette, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Cranberries, R Kelly, Tracy Chapman, and Beck, to name a few, would have their respective spots as well, showing not only the pop hits of the 90s that my generation remembers, but also the 90s Grunge and Rave that the decade experienced.

Enjoy! xx

Humpday Playlist: I've Got Ya Covered

See what I did there? This week's midweek playlist is devoted solely to covers of all genres and artists. Sometimes I find that I enjoy covers of songs more than the original song because I think it not only shows a new side of a song, but also an insight to the talent that an artist or group has. I've linked up each of the songs so you can find the right version! Enjoy folks.

Rhythm of the Night(Bastille & DeBarge) – Ellie Goulding

Call Me Maybe(Carly Rae Jepsen)– Ben Howard

Blackbird(The Beatles)– Evan Rachel Wood

Fast Car(Tracy Chapman)– Boyce Avenue & Kinna Grannis

Get Lucky(Daft Punk)– Aloan

Take Care(Drake)– Florence Welch

Somebody That I Used to Know (Gotye & Kimbra)– Boyce Avenue

No Scrubs(TLC & The XX)– Bastille

Rolling in The Deep(Adele)– Linkin Park

Hold On, We're Going Home(Drake)– Arctic Monkeys

Say You'll be There(Spice Girls)– MØ

I'm Going Down(Bruce Springsteen)– Vampire Weekend

Postcards From Italy (Beirut)– Florence and the Machine

Counting Stars (One Republic)– Angel Haze

Grammy(Soulja Boy)– Purity Ring

Get Lucky(Daft Punk)– Daughter

Say My Name/Cry Me a River(Destiny's Child/Justin Timberlake)– The Neighbourhood

The Suburbs(Arcade Fire)– Mr. Little Jeans

Keep the Car Running (Aracde Fire)– Foo Fighters

Graceland(Paul Simon)– Tallest Man On Earth

Don't Think Twice, It's Alright(Bob Dylan)– Metric

What Would You Do (City High)– Bastille

The last twelve songs came from Sara, who compiled this 8tracks playlist of covers. Check itttt.

It's Already Wednesday?

Somehow Wednesday is already upon us (is anyone else's week flying by?), meaning it's that time for a humpday playlist. This weeks mix of classics and R&B comes from my favorite Malibu (Malibooty? Since there is no actual term for one who comes from Malibu)/Chicagoan, Sophie. As a musician and singer, I always trust Soph's rather unique and comprehensive music collection, hence why I've requested a playlist of what she's currently listening to. Thanks so much for putting this together, I love!
