Hump Day

On a trip to pick up some supplies for an upcoming shoot, we snuck around Potrero Hill and had some slap happy midweek fun. After a jam packed first few days of the week, getting a chance to play outside in the sunshine was just what I needed for a successful hump day! Just when you think you've seen it all, San Francisco continues to constantly amaze me.

Piccino

Eating at really fantastic restaurants in San Francisco is not a hard task, but finding one that you absolutely love because of a marvelous menu, friendly staff, and is appropriate for almost any occasion is an amazing find. For me, Piccino takes the cake! Not only is it located in the ultra-trendy Dogpatch neighborhood, but they take reservations! (How sad is it that a restaurant that takes reservations is now a hard thing to come across?) Anyways, our lovely server Devin was a peach and made our visit even more enjoyable. I love that the menu changes often, according to what local fruits and vegetables are in season.

We started with little gem romaine, wild pecans, cilantro, and green goddess dressing

strozzapreti, octopus, calabrian chili, marinara (totally something I want to attempt to make at home– the crispy octopus was delicious)

heirloom tomatoes, burrata, heirloom polenta (one of the tastiest things I've ever had), watercress, and aged balsamic

estate pizze: mozzarella di buffalo, squash, corn, cherry tomatoes, and arugula

dessert: zeppole accompanied by vanilla bean crema and strawberry marmellata

can't wait for many more lunches & dinners to come!

Nopalito

If you love Mexican food, try to live sustainably, and don't mind waiting around for a table for a while, definitely check out Nopalito

Nopalito (noun) means a slice of nopal, or cactus leaf, used in Mexican cuisine

we split Totopos con ChileTortilla chips, salsa de arbol, cotija cheese, crema and lime

and Taquitos de Papa con Espinaca: Crispy rolled tortillas, potato, spinach, jalapeño, onion, guacamole, crema, queso fresco and salsa brava

housemade strawberry lemonades + hibiscus-valencia orange

two orders of Carne Asada con Nopales y Chorizo: Grilled sirloin steak, cactus, chorizo, refried black beans, queso fresco, and salsa pasilla negro

+

two orders of Quesadilla Roja con Chicharrón: Mulato chile-corn tortilla, crispy pork belly, salsa cascabel, jack cheese, queso fresco, onion and cilantro

it tasted great, but wasn't the most photogenic order around. On my next visit, Ceviche Nayarita (Marinated fish, calamari, lime, cucumber, carrot, avocado,
salsa piquin and tortilla chips) needs to happen, as well was the carnitas!

Kara's Cupcakes

If you appreciate desserts, especially cupcakes, Kara's Cupcakes is the place for you. Desserts aren't really my thing because I normally find myself only truly wanting one or two bites of something, not an entire cake or pint of ice cream, so Kara's mini cupcakes are the perfect size for me!

cute cupcakes for pride weekend!

Summer Basics

On a beautiful sunny summer day there is nothing worse than feeling sweaty and uncomfortable in what you're wearing, especially if you're wearing this ensemble for a long work day. For a summer day in San Francisco, my go to pieces are my favorite skinny jeans, a light tank or other top, a fun necklace, wedges, and a great bag (and a light coat for layering is a must in Sf). What are your summer essentials for staying cool but chic?
