Borough Market

I've formed a recent obsession with Borough Market and all of the endless goodies it has to offer. Fresh cheese, produce, and bread are my normal go to's but this week we had lunch, which only made me love Borough Market even more.

We stocked up on the fresh focaccia

after grabbing some veggies we were sipped some sangria and continued to browse, knowing we were headed toward the cheese stalls... lots and lots of cheese.

we fell in love with this vendor, Gastronomica, and bought spinach & ricotta ravioli, baby burrata, and mozzarella.

wondering why her face looks like this?

because this turns into...

this amazing warm cheesy creation

i had some crispy samosas + focaccia

and enjoyed some lovely company + views of Southwark Cathedral and The Shard

Zazie

Growing up in Cole Valley, I took for granted some of the neighborhood favorites, such as Zazie, which is now one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The French bistro, named after a 1960s French film called Zazie, is known for their delicious brunches, seen here, but dinner is never a let down. My dad and I went last evening for a delicious meal outside on the garden patio and had trouble narrowing down our choices on the menu since nearly every option looked amazing.

I started with Salade Betterave: arugula, red and gold beets, fennel, avocados, and white balsamic gorgonzola vinaigrette

we split Pate de Volaille before moving on to our entrees & noshed on the warm delicious bread rolls.

dear ol' dad had Truite de Camille: a broiled deboned trout with preserved lemon thyme butter, almonds, and greens

I had Pasta de Printemps: fresh fettuccine with almond basil pesto (ahhmazing!!), spring asparagus, and sheep's milk feta.

The burger and lemon ricotta raviolis are great, but I'm eager to try the grilled marscarpone polenta cakes, the mac and cheese, and the crispy duck leg. What is your favorite dish from Zazie?

Spring Pasta

Looking for a simple weeknight recipe with some fresh spring veggies? Angel hair (or the pasta of your choice), asparagus, mushrooms, and lemon zest make for a quick & delicious spring dinner. I never thought to add asparagus to a pasta dish, but why not?

The lemon zest gives the angel hair an amazing taste

Yum!

Strawberry Banana Muffins

Got any gross overly ripe bananas? Use them for some banana nut bread or this yummy breakfast treat!

Combine 1 3/4 cups flour, 2 tsp. baking powder, 1/2 tsp. baking soda, 1/2 tsp. salt in a small bowl. In a bigger bowl, beat 5 tbsp. unsalted butter, then add 2/3 cup sugar, then 2 eggs, and 2 tsp. vanilla.

Strain the strawberries to ensure all the water is out. I know this seems silly, but the muffins won't turn out right if you bake them with too much water. Combine the berries with your mushy bananas & then with your wet butter & egg mixture. Gradually add this to the bowl of dry mixture and then to your muffin liners!

Bake at 350° F for about 15 minutes. Recipe makes about a dozen muffins.

Our delicious muffins went perfectly with a ton of scrambled eggs & veggies

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
