After Budapest, we took a coach to Vienna to spend three days there before heading to Prague. Vienna was a very classical European city, with gorgeous architecture all over the place and fabulous art museums. I dragged the girls to the Albertina, which I completely recommend if you're in Vienna for only a day, as well as the Belvedere Palace. The Albertina had a fantastic exhibit of an American artist, Eric Fischl (I have a new found love for him). The Albertina's permanent collection is an impressive modern assortment, to say the least, thanks to permanent loan from the Rita und Herbert Batliner Foundation. It's home to works by Claude Monet, Paul Cezzane, Max Ernst, Oskar Kokoschka, Pablo Picasso, Edgar Degas, Alberto Giacometti, and Henri Matisse, to name a few. We also checked out the Schonbrunn Palace, sampled the famous Sacher chocolate cake at the Sacher Hotel, and stopped for pretzels a few too many times! Next stop: Terezin & Prague.
