Delarosa

Dinners with dear ol' dad never let me down, but lately, we've been dining at places where our meals were certainly tasty, but were presented in not the most photogenic manner. For me, presentation is everything and Delarosa fully understood that.

sliced gold and red beets with arugula, shaved ricotta, and truffle

Little gem, fresh strawberry, balsamic for myself (the pink dressing scared me a little, but proved me wrong)

Crispy tagliolini dumplings, mozzarella, prosciutto, and green peas

Spicy Fennel sausage, scamorza, onion + an egg

Flat style pizza has certainly made its impact in the bay area, from places like Ragazza, Delarosa, or Delfina, to mobile food trucks like Del Popolo. What's your favorite spot to enjoy your pizza?!

(apologies to any particularly hungry readers)

Plow

If you consider yourself a breakfast or brunch person, Plow is the place for you. Located in Potrero Hill, this small spot specializes in serving breakfast and brunch all day long (by all day, I mean until 2pm). I don't consider myself to be one of these breakfast people I speak of, but after hearing so much about their lemon ricotta pancakes, Kelsey and I decided to give it a try. My oh MY we were not let down! The food is nothing too fancy or out of the ordinary, rather, its simply prepared, local, fresh, seasonal deliciousness.

Equator coffee + warm homemade peach pie should be the start of everyone's morning

almond flour pancakes for Kelsey (gluten free!)

and lemon ricotta pancakes for myself

on our next trip we'll be having the softshell crab sandwich or the fried chicken sandwich for brunch!

Zazie Part Deux

Since Zazie is conveniently around the corner from my house, I had dinner there again last night, for the second time this week. Normally I don't like repeating things...outfits, songs, or restaurants, but Zazie's seasonal summer menu is too good to pass up!  On Saturday, I had fresh fettuccine, which I completely recommend. Saturday's dinner + last night's meal solidified my claim that Zazie is one of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco. It's a perfect setting for a quick week night bite, or entertaining guests and family in town, like we did last night.

a selection of French cheeses + figs for four of us to share

Salade Louis Malle: Spinach, caramelized onions, feta (normally gorgonzola, but I'm not a huge fan), with balsamic vinaigrette

the fettuccine I won't stop talking about

Grilled Niman Pork chop with minted couscous

Lamb Tagine: slowly braised lamb w/ tomatoes, eggplant, turmeric, cumin, saffron, almonds, & couscous

I had grilled mascarpone polenta cakes with spinach and mushrooms in a spicy tomato-chevre sauce

This doesn't look as good as it tasted, but we all split Crumble aux Fruits: Fresh fruit crumble served warm w/ creme fraiche + a scoop of vanilla bean gelato

Summer Street Festivals

The Union Street Festival is the first festival I have attended this summer, kicking off the start of attending many more that are all free and take place in San Francisco throughout the summer. Good weather + great food, music, and shopping brings out people of all ages and walks of life, making for an enjoyable two day event. I'm looking forward to the Haight Street Fair, coming up this Sunday, June 9th, as well as the North Beach Festival, taking place on June 15th + 16th! Who else is attending free, fun, summer events?

Being silly in a made well dress (worn here), Betsy Johnson sunglasses, and Zara bag

After a long afternoon of walking around and being in the sun, I feel ya little guy!
