Big & Little's

My camera is currently in the shop so pardon the low quality of pics, I'll keep this post short & sweet. I had a catch up lunch with my dearest friend Annabelle last week and just needed to share our feast with you. We ordered half of Big & Little's menu.

As serious french fry connoisseur's, Belle and I agreed to get two different types so we could try each other's. She opted for the truffle fries and I went with just the plain ol' classic. Can't go wrong with either.

The fresh ahi tuna taco...oh my lanta. With a drizzle of fresh lemon and the amazing teryaki sauce that's hiding on the inside of that shell...ooohhwee that's one spicy meat-a-ball!

Opted for one carnitas taco with fresh cilantro

I tried one of the specials, the pinto bean taco with fresh cilantro and queso fresco. I'm a big fan of this little joint so not to worry, there will be future pics I'm sure.

Oh and p.s. a word to the wise - go for lunch to avoid the crowds. I've been for dinner and it's dreadful, especially in the heat!

Crosby's Kitchen

I think every Saturday and Sunday morning should start with a Bloody Mary, accompanied by a 7 oz. beer back. Here are some very delayed snaps from a long, hilarious brunch with the girls when our friend Regan came to town last month. I just found these photos and am remembering how good Crosby's Kitchen is! Def a go back.

We all have the tendency for our eyes to be larger than our stomachs, so we opted to split this delicious warm, homemade cornbread served in an iron skillet. It came with hot maple butter...let's just repeat that one more time: hot. maple. butter.
That is all.

Jac and Kels both went for the benedict served over a homemade cheddar bacon buttermilk biscuit. Quite the mouthful, eh? T'was a delicious mouthful, you can bet your bottom dolla that I tried it, multiple times.

Regan was in the mood for a burger that tasted better than it looked (sorry for no snaps of it). I on the other hand decided the fried egg sandwich with bacon on Rye sounded particularly yummy.

Let's just take one last look at that marvelous poached egg...ahhh

If you're in the Southport area and are hungry for brunch, hit up Crosby's. If you're lucky and the weather stays nice for a few more days (fingers crossed!) then be sure to grab a seat outside. Enjoy!

Blogger Crush: See Want Shop

I always love when a friend or family member passes along a song or an artist that they think I would like, so I am spreading some of that with you. To start off the month, I thought I would share with you my newest blogger crush. Many of you probably already know the Aussie blogger Lisa Hamilton who writes the lifestyle and fashion blog called See Want Shop. Based in Melbourne, she puts together fresh looks and inspirational images that you wish you could just jump straight in to. I really admire her minimal yet somehow still feminine style, which definitely shows through in the overall look of her blog. It goes without saying, I want everything in her closet, perhaps, with the exception of the Birkenstocks...I'm so ready to see that trend leave!!! She does a really nice job of maintaining a keen sense of personal taste while managing to balance certain trends, without over doing it. I also adore her love of fresh flowers since I too have that obsession. If you are unfamiliar, be sure to check her out!

Here's her blog and her FLAWWWWLESS insta.

Enjoy!

Labor Day White

I hope you all had a long, refreshing, and non-laborious weekend (see what I did there?). I was speaking to one of my British friends over the weekend who asked about Labor Day – you know, the basics like what it is and why Americans celebrate it. I immediately had to consult the internet to to come up with something rather than "ehh I'm not really too sure" other than the fact that most schools start the day after Labor Day and we don't wear white anymore. To not sound like such a moron, I read up on it and learned a little about why we have off that notorious Monday that marks the ending of summer. So I got to thinking, where did the whole 'no white after Labor Day' fashion myth come from? Well a) there are some practical reasons of white being a cooler fabric for warm summer months, and b) a more symbolic reason*. So where do you fall in this situation – do you even consider this rule to be relevant anymore? Who cares if it's the day after September 1st and you're wearing a white top? Apparently I do not since I wore a white dress today without even thinking twice. Here are some images I've gathered that are inspiring me to now consciously wear white for these last days of summer and into the coming fall and winter seasons.
