Oscars 2013: Va Va Voom

The Oscars...everyone has their opinions on Hollywood's biggest night. Some look forward to the event months in advance, anticipating the stars outfits and who will win best picture; others, could care less about the superficiality of an awards show. Some see every single movie nominated while some folk only see one or two. I fall somewhere in the middle of these categories. As I was growing up, my mom threw a huge Oscar party every year, with loads of food, laughter, and good company. I always remember parking myself in front of the tv early to ensure I would have a prime viewing spot for the red carpet coverage. Although I do not follow celebrity gossip, as the years have gone, not much has changed since this year I was mainly interested in who was wearing what. Yes the nominated films were all unique and wonderfully done, but I only saw Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook. Both were wonderful, but I missed Life of Pi, Lincoln, and Argo (sorry Les Mis, I don't think I could sit through three hours of nonstop singing). I'm sure some of you were upset that your picks didn't win, but lets focus on the outfits for a moment shall we?

In my book, best dressed came down to a tie: two stunning women, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lawrence, who both wore Dior Haute Couture.

Wow.

Jennifer Lawrence also in a stunning, dramatic, but elegant Dior gown.

Her whole look was so sophisticated and glamorous. LOVE the back necklace.

I'm sorry for choosing this photo after her tripping up the stairs, but the dress looks amazing! Realistically, who wouldn't have fallen in that? Made me like her even more, you go girl.

Second Place: Jessica Chastain in Armani Prive gown + Harry Winston jewels

Her hair + lipstick + the copper/champagne color on her skin = flawless

Warning: might be developing a new girl crush

Let's hear it for the mamas!

Amy Adams in Oscar de la Renta

Up next: Halle Berry in long sleeve Versace

definitely made up for the atrocious Golden Globes dress...

And the intricate detailing continues...

Sandra Bullock in an Elie Saab gown + Harry Winston jewelry

Jennifer Garner in a plum strapless Gucci dress + Neil Lane jewels

all attention on her hubby who won best picture for Argo!

 Other unexpected goodies

Sally Field in the signature Valentino red + Martin Katz jewelry. Who doesn't love Sally Field?

Salma Hayek in Alexander McQueen

A bit risqué for the Oscars, but Samantha Barks rocked this Valentino

Lets Hear it for the boys:

Christoph Waltz in Prada

Eddie Redmayne in Alexander McQueen

Bradley Cooper & his mom, Gloria. Bradley Cooper in Tom Ford.

Channing Tatum in Gucci

Joseph Gordon Levitt looking dapper as usual in Gucci

Best Couple!

Daniel Day Lewis in Domenico Vacca & Rebecca Miller in Dolce & Gabbana

What a duo

Last but not least: What were you thinking?

Kristen Stewart: Why were you at the Oscars? Do your hair.

Nancy O'Dwell: You were invited to the Oscars...not a Miss America Pageant.

Thanks for reading!
Hope you enjoyed my top picks. Do you agree or disagree?
